CAFE MODERNA

Café Moderna is directed to cherish visual aesthetic of modern dining culture. The Café Moderna works show how classical still art and portrait scenarios could be interpreted in modern society’s approach of seeing and feeling food nowadays. Some paintings are depicted from a high up angle. This choice was made to emphasize the popular modern way of perceiving the first impression of your dish: high up from the angle of a phone camera.

The aim of this project is to elaborate on the dimension of storytelling in painting medium. Overall, many see storytelling as something affiliated to writing. The following pieces are created to disclose highly detailed narratives in the boundaries of a framed canvas. They are primarily directed to build an entirely different universe that discloses many of its rules and characters.

ABOUT

Dmytro Trach is a Ukrainian painter based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The world of art has arrived in his life at the early age of 10 when drawing classes became a way of spending time with his peers. Throughout university times and his immigration to the Netherlands, the occasional work in the studio and teaching art turned into a way of scooping everyday inspiration.
Currently Dmytro is residing in Amsterdam. His paintings are often executed with acrylic colors on canvases while his style varies from figurative art to realism. The distinctive feature of his painting is the emphasis on contrasting colors and precise forms. Dmytro also experiments with digital drawing and has executed multiple digital portraits throughout the past years.
The subject matter of Dmytro’s work often touch open the topic of self-exploration, equality, spirituality and life values.

Since the begging of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, his artworks were exhibited in multiple fundraising events that helped his community to raise donations for the Ukrainian army. At the moment Dmytro is working on a set of still life works “Café Modern” directed to emphasize the physical and social value of food as the part of human existence.

Recently Dmytro had his first solo exhibition at Mina Gallery (03.09.2023 until 01.11.2023). Moreover, he has participated in Rotterdam Art week under the initiative 380 Art and has taken part in the multiple art fairs in Expocafe Samen and Door Open Space (Fair elements).
